Cafe day

2 weeks ago Moana hub held a Cafe day so the elderly would enjoy themselves. There was tea coffee mountains and mountains of scones and cakes and loads of other delicious baking. Kids offering grandparents tea and coffee "would you like milk or sugar with that" someone asked, and all we got back in return was the warm fuzzy feeling that we had given someone something to enjoy and to leave feeling happy.
My learning from cafe day was that many hands makes lighter work.

Here is a picture of some of the food

Mrs Frisby and the rats of NIMH

Mrs Frisby and the rats of NIMH is the new book that we are reading this term and I have enjoyed so far. The novel relates the plight of a widowed field mouse, Mrs. Frisby, who needs the help of a group of laboratory rats and mice in rescuing her home from destruction by a farmer's plow and saving Timothy from pneumonia This book is written by Robert C. O'brien and the illustrator
is Zena bernstein this book was released on the 1 of june 1970. I predict that the cat, dragon is going to get
sick and the rats are going to do something bad and I also think they are building something because they
were dragging a cable into their hole.

Thank you for reading

What is a Pie Chart

A pie chart is a chart that shows unlike a Bar graph or line graph  the percentages of what you listed. For Example, this morning we got a small  packet of M and M's each we estimated how many M and M's there were for each color we eventually got seven of each color which in total was 42. I will show you a Chart of what there really was in this screencastify. If you want to make a chart or graph you go to google sheets and type in the information you need. The you need to press the button that looks like a chart  and then you change the chart to pie graph in customize.

Tessellations

We are learning about Tessellations, Tessellations is a picture that has no background instead it is just a different colored picture. This week and we have started to draw them we started off basic one shape then after that we did two shapes that we chose from a piece of paper. Now we are doing harder shapes like animals or nature. We cut out a shape at the bottom of a Square and stuck it to the top of the square and then traced it on the rest of the paper When the page was full we drew some eyes or a mouth on them. This is very fun because we get to color it in and chose our own shape.

This is the start of my picture.

Actions Stations day

This Tuesday we had an Action Stations Day. This means we had groups throughout the whole school doing different jobs. Our group had to go and tidy the school. The picture above is of us sorting out the rubbish we picked up. We counted all the rubbish on charts and I thought that plastic was going to be the most, I was right. I had to sort out metal including stuff like tin foil and chip packs, surprisingly there was a lot of metal rubbish. After doing this we went to the Hamanatua Stream and had lunch. We then walked along the beach back to school while picking up rubbish. The purpose of this was based on a quote 'Actions Speak Louder Than Words'. This means instead of just talking about doing something...do it!

This was the rubbish that
we collected at the school
clean up all together.

Science fair

This is my science fair project for this term it is all about clean energy. This was a very interesting project and I had lots of fun doing it. I found out that it can't be fully run by clean energy but it still charges in the sun when I'm not using it. Read the slide to find out more.

Big Thanks to my dad for helping me with this project.

Mothers day card

The Friday before mother's day we made cards and gave them to our mums on sunday. First of all we had to do alliteration. Second is three adjectives. The third thing we had to do was what nicknames she gives me. The fourth is a simile.
The last a three word statement.

My mum thought it was cute, I was embarrassed.

My New Digital Timetable

The new digital timetable is really helpful because I know where I'm meant to be and what time and I can choose what i can do and sign up for what I want to do. Everyone Is always on task and doing the right thing. We have our timetable from Monday to Thursday.  Friday is a home room day when we stay in our own room. I find the workshops to do in my Gmail that is on a google form.  Then find the appropriate workshop for my level.   We know which ones are our level because it says on the form. Our other tasks are found on the Moana learning hub our class website on the links to learning. These are activities like word work ,read to self and the basic fact challenge.

I think the timetable is really easy to use and everyone is on-task either at workshops or doing their activities.

Here's a picture of the timetable.
